Going the extra mile

Letters

Editor:

My husband and I were heading for the ferry last Sunday, to take our niece to the airport, when we experienced a major flat tire incident on Sunshine Coast Highway.

The three of us had barely got out of the car to inspect the damage when a red Miata cruised to a stop behind us. Out jumped two good Samaritans, angels Mark and Ruth, who had to go home to get tools and then spent the next half hour or so helping us change the spare tire.

We were beyond grateful for the extra miles that this couple went to help us on the road again. And when we proposed to take them for a drink or bring them a gift later, Mark simply said, “Don’t worry about it, just pass it on.”

Now that’s “how we do things here.” We are so blessed to have moved to the Sunshine Coast and are proud to be Coasters.
