The Gibsons Landing Heritage Society (GLHS) depends on community support to upgrade and maintain the Heritage Playhouse, and this year generous donations have enabled the society to accomplish some important projects, many of which are focused on sustainability.
A grant from the Sunshine Coast Regional District will enable the refurbishing of the Green Room to make it more readily available for small group rental – for example, children’s art workshops.
With support from Gibsons Rotary Club, and BC Hydro through its Power Smart Incentive Program, GLHS will be able to replace all the house lighting with LED bulbs, thus significantly reducing ongoing Hydro costs and conserving energy. We are most grateful for this contribution.
A much-appreciated grant from the Sunshine Coast Community Foun-dation will take us halfway to a full upgrade of our HVAC system. This would allow better control of the Playhouse temperature during weather extremes. Audience members and performers will undoubtedly welcome this development, once the project is completed.
Heartfelt appreciation also extends to our army of volunteers, our wonderful artists and audience members and all the community donors whose financial support enables us to keep the Heritage Playhouse functioning as a vital community resource.
