Firefighters a pro team

Editor:

Have you ever had to call 911 for your local volunteer fire department? Hope you don’t ever have to, but if you do, we feel compelled to express how fortunate we are to have such professional and talented volunteers in our Sechelt Fire Department.

We had to make that call – it took an approximately five-minute response time (of course, it felt like more) but from the time the call was made, a crew supervisor was on the scene, directing all who came to look to stand back, as when the trucks and crew arrive everything will happen so fast and they require your cooperation. On arrival, they did what was expected of them and got the fully engulfed shed under control. They also had to deal with the fencing next to the shed and a barn behind.

The duty crew supervisors were amazing and kept us informed at every stage.

We raise our hands and can’t express enough how important and professional our local volunteer fire department is. Kudos also to our neighbours – without them holding down with garden hoses when the fire first started, it could have been worse.

As the owners, we are saddened that our entire Christmas display that we so loved sharing with the community will not be there this Christmas.
