Ferry good news

Letters

Editor:

So often we hear only of ferry “bad news.” I had the opportunity to experience the good side of our ferry service recently. On Nov. 17, I arrived as a walk-on for the 11:30 ferry, via taxi from the airport, after unexpectedly having had a bad fall. I asked for a wheelchair if possible. Even though I did not have a reservation for one, the man in the wicket arranged to have a “dock crew” member wheel me on. I was handed over at the ramp to a “ship crew” member, who cheerfully wheeled me to the front. When we docked, a third crew member wheeled me down and a fourth wheeled me right to a waiting vehicle. All this was performed with cheerfulness and willingness. I am sorry not to get their names to thank them personally, but will watch for them on my next trips. Well done, crew!
