Extreme hazard

Letters

Editor:

I am filing a complaint regarding the extremely hazardous road conditions between Roberts Creek and Sechelt on Highway 101 from loose sand left over by the recent crack sealing highway maintenance. As a regular commuting cyclist, the sand at the side of the road has become life threatening with sections inches thick. It is hard to see and anticipate its depth when approaching at normal speed. Cars are slowing down and bumping over the stuff. It is becoming airborne, creating a visibility issue for all travellers and getting into eyes, mouth and lungs. This needs to be cleaned up immediately to prevent injury and possible loss of life.
