Election wisdom escapes us

Canadians are election fatigued. That is, the people who vote.

People just don't care enough to vote. We are in very serious times and I would think people would be engaged across the country. Yet, we are apathetic and dismissive of our civic duties in growing numbers.

The very recent election in Afghanistan was supported by our treasure - the men and women of the NATO forces. Soldiers died in order to allow that free election. Well, as it turns out; free not so much as is the corrupt reality of Afghanistan. Good lord, we spend a lot more a in a year in blood and treasure than $300 million for Afghanistan.

My point? If those brave men and women are willing to defend democracy and elections in a place so different from our world why do you find fault with another election here?

Inconvenience is no excuse. No one will lose their life to cast a ballot here in Canada, but unless the voter shows up the wisdom will escape us.
