The new BC Ferries summer reservation system is totally disappointing. It feels like we are reliving a passage from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. If you recall, there is a passage where Earth was to be demolished for a hyperspatial expressway. When earthlings complained, they were told they could have attended the meetings on Alpha Centauri. The plans had been on display for 100 years but nobody knew. This feels the same as what BC Ferries is doing to us with the proposed reservation system.

Will this not create considerable difficulty for commuters and people with urgent last-minute medical needs?

If the medical appointment goes overtime and you miss the reservation home, what do you do? Note that even though the reservations are free, there is a penalty if they are missed. This is a travel surcharge.

Perhaps polling various regional and town councils is not a good reflection of the needs and requirements of the general population. How is this better in any way?
