Dogs in trucks: a horrible idea

Dogs riding in the back of pick-up trucks are at risk of serious injury. Think about your dog’s safety. Your dog could fall or be thrown out. I urge pet owners to use a secure crate or dog seat belt to secure their pets.

It is against the law to have an unsecured pet in the back of a pick-up truck. Section 72 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act prohibits this. Under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act you can also be charged for cruelty to animals if your pet is injured.

I would like to see our local RCMP enforce this violation just as they do to speeders.

I am fed up with seeing these truck owners speeding down the highway while a dog is in the back trying to balance itself, its body undulating forward, backward and sideways, not to mention the dirt and dust the animal must inhale and get in its eyes.

Honestly, what is wrong with you people?
