Doctor ignores angst

Letters

Re: “Doctors frustrated by lack of progress,” Letters, July 14.

For local MD Jim Petzold to fail to reference community angst at Liberal plans to saddle us with a privately run extended care facility is flat-out misleading. Nothing in public reaction suggests the community trusted the quintessentially Liberal premise that the private sector could reliably do the job. The community is aware of the need. It does not trust a public/private arrangement to meet it.

Dr. Petzold is merely one citizen among many. Sechelt council has moved responsibly to slow this process down, all the more so with a government in Victoria likely to be more responsive to community needs, concerns and preferences on the matter.
