Do we know what stop signs mean?

Many cyclists in B.C. have been ticketed for not wearing a helmet while cycling. Many of them have not paid the fine imposed as a result of the ticket.

A suggestion has been made that the law should be repealed. I would guess that the repeal effort would be strongly supported by the fine dodgers.

Maybe the drivers who ignore the stop signs (and there are many) could get together and strive towards repealing the law that says drivers must stop at a stop sign. Daily, I witness this law being violated, both in Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast.

I have seen school children waiting for a bus, watching drivers ignore stop signs, and my immediate thought is that, in 10 years or so, these children will be doing the same thing, unless adult drivers start to set a good example for them. Then again, if the law is successfully repealed, those future drivers will not have to concern themselves with the word stop. What a pity.
