Re: Senior's driving testing

I think the computer requirement portion has been implemented 10 to 15 years too early. Today's seniors are very often not computer savvy. They feel like deer caught in the headlights. They sit in front of a computer and it is an alien thing. They freeze. This has nothing to do with intelligence nor ability - it has to do with knowledge.

In this field they have none, no foundation or basics. That goes a long way towards a comfort level, in any situation. Today's retirees yes, they will have had computer experience. People older than that. I'm going to say there's a good chance many have not.

Sitting seniors with no computer experience, in front of a terminal, and expecting correct responses is exactly like sitting someone with experience, in front of an

unfamiliar computer game and saying OK now get a perfect score.

Yes there must be some sort of testing, beyond medical and visual, but this current requirement is telling our seniors to dive before they have learned to tread water.
