Isn’t it interesting who and what comes out of the woodwork leading up to election time?
I can’t help but notice these “Flush the John” bumper stickers popping up around town. I find it even more interesting that whoever thought up this “clever” phrase doesn’t realize how openly they are degrading themselves. That goes for anyone proudly waving this flag on his or her vehicle. By displaying to the rest of the community the level you’re willing to sink to in order to convey your opinion does more damage to your reputation than anyone else’s.
If I was new to town and didn’t have any political favour, I definitely wouldn’t want anything to do with a group who carries on in such a distasteful fashion. I can only imagine what visitors to Sechelt think when they see these remarks posted by local residents.
We’re all fortunate enough to live in a great community and be able to have a voice when we vote for leadership. Perhaps we should graduate from grade school and take a more diplomatic approach to the topic, such as making stickers showing support for whom you wish to give it to, rather than attempting to persuade others with derogative comments.
