Editor:
I had the pleasure of visiting your beautiful community recently.
While I am not a resident, I feel very close to your community as I have family who live in Sechelt and I visit regularly. I am surprised that the new housing targeted at seniors (above Rockwood, below the high school) would be so high. Does that not pose a risk in case of a fire, power outage, or earthquake? I can only imagine how difficult it would be to try and get seniors off the top floors, very possibly resulting in multiple tragedies.
I am very surprised that council would have approved such a project, and even more surprised that the developer would opt for such a design.
It is never too late to modify plans to make it safer for your seniors; they do deserve that. I for one would urge you not to let your loved ones live in the upper storeys if this project moves ahead as approved.
