Crossings ignored

Letters

Editor:

Taking a short walk in the downtown area of Sechelt to look at pedestrian crossings, here is what I observed:

Teredo and Trail, badly worn; Teredo and Inlet, badly worn; Teredo and Wharf, badly worn; Trail at Home Hardware, almost gone; Trail and Cowrie, worn; Trail and Mermaid, badly worn; Trail and Dolphin, badly worn; Wharf and Orchard, almost gone; Cowrie and Wharf, badly worn; Inlet and Mermaid, badly worn. Teredo and Trail as well as Teredo and Inlet have both had recent serious pedestrian accidents. Why would council spend over $12,000 on painting a rainbow on Cowrie Street while these important pedestrian crossings are ignored? It does not say much for their decision making on the spending of our tax dollars.
