Craters on the road

Letters

Editor:

Do you have craters on your road? We do on ours.

Just think – I don’t have to sign up for a trip to the moon or any other planet to fully experience what such a landscape is really like. Rough-edged holes that trap the unwary driver, trip up the unsuspecting pedestrian, but provide drinking water for thirsty dogs after it rains – these are just some of the challenges of moving through and around this out-of-space surface.

The pancake quick fix of blacktop dollops creates amazing intricate designs, patterns worthy to be copied by any quilter! Yet, alas, soon the crisscross jumble of grey filler gets eroded. But guess what? Even more craters appear – and what an exciting challenge it is to navigate through them.
