The pro-bridge movement has certainly sunk to a new low with Mr. Hockley’s statement, and I quote: “As far as C. Clark’s ‘Chicken Little’ cries about the Coast coming to an end with big box stores, that would be a blessing, as then I could shop locally more often.”
Mr. Hockley needs to apologize to every single business on the Coast, especially independent ones, for this disgusting remark. Read the “I love this town” letter and ask yourself if this would happen in a strip mall big box utopia Mr. Hockley envisions.
You say you have been here for 21 years; however, you still don’t get it. Why did you move here? Do you folks not research what is and what isn’t here, or are you the type of folk who moves next to an airport and complains about the noise? That seems about it.
All I can say is the ferry system has a great travel special for you – it doesn’t cost anything to leave. The land of big box stores and big sporting events awaits on the other side. You’ll be able to bask in the fact you could even go shopping at a big box store after the big game. Maybe not, though, as you’ll probably complain about the congestion and lack of parking and move back to the Coast. Yeesh!
