Confidence in the future

Letters

Editor:

On Sunday, I had the good fortune to spend the day at the Gibsons Public Market, where, to celebrate Family Day, the Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre was open with free admission.

There were families everywhere, all ages. There were older and younger singles and couples, visitors from other provinces and countries all choosing to spend part of their day there, socializing, learning, playing, eating, shopping.

I observed some interactions that left me inspired by the next generations: parents and other adults engaged with curious polite children, and nary a cell phone in sight. It fills my heart to see the parenting skills of the adults, and the thoughtful interesting children – our future is in good hands.
