It’s with great dismay and sadness that I visit Buddy Boyd’s Gibsons Recycling Depot and see it closing down avenues for certain products. We’ve been recycling in Gibsons since the early 1990s, first in a big yard behind SuperValu, then in an incredibly frustrating setup in IGA Mall parking lot, and finally at the current wonderful location run very professionally by Buddy and Barb.
Gibsons Recycling Depot is a world-class asset with a safe, clear yard and helpful attendants. How can we keep this type of service going? I fear its closure will lead to much illegal dumping at a great cost to taxpayers and the environment. Town of Gibsons and SCRD, we are waiting to hear from you. What would you like your thousands of residents to do with their tons of recycling materials when the depot is no longer available to us?
