Editor:
In corroboration of Marlene Rees’ Letter to the Editor two weeks ago (“Hospital, staff excellent”), I wish to compliment, and wholeheartedly thank, the Sechelt Hospital staff who cared for me for two weeks in the ICU early in April.
Our new surgeon, Dr. Menezes, was superb in dealing with my broken ribs and collapsed lung, ably assisted by the three who share the anesthesiology routines – specifically doctors Mundy, Newman, and (my own MD) Spithoff.
Additional, specific credit is due to five superb nurses within the ICU who were not only proficient but also very personal in their approach to me: Candace (from North Van), Avila, Anne, and Ruth. The fifth, a male named Gord, seemed to most always appear for the night shift, but was extremely helpful to me in overcoming the hallucinations effective from the morphine painkiller doses.
One last credit to the X-ray technicians who dealt with me on a daily basis for 14 days, often with two scans per day.
By the way, “Bravo Zulu!” is a sincere military expression meaning “Well Done!”
