Kudos to Bruce, our Sunshine Coast Transit bus driver.
There was a cougar, unbeknownst to me, in my neighbourhood (Langdale) late on Thursday, July 27. A big one! I was out walking the dog minding my own business one minute, the next minute the transit bus driver that just passed me goes into reverse and yells at me to get in the bus NOW. Judging by his urgency, it was very close. He said he’s not ordinarily supposed to pick up dogs ... good excuse to make an exception. He was on the phone immediately with the RCMP to alert them. He also told them he picked up someone walking their dog (me) and they wanted to know what was going to happen to me. The driver asked if I lived nearby. Next thing I know, he makes a detour, drops me off at my house. I say thanks and goodbye to everyone on the bus and run inside. His calm and decisive actions are very much appreciated. He definitely went above and beyond the call of duty.
Our bus drivers are awesome!
