Editor:
If there are people I have great respect for, it’s the common men and women who work hard, really hard, day in and day out, to make an honest living.
I am also grateful to all the persons who devote a large portion of their time to running for public office, especially on a local level, and in particular for the SCRD. You are faced with a difficult job, you don’t get a lot of appreciation, and you are the target for relentless criticism.
What I really hope, in all your dealings and decisions, is that you remember that you are spending money that the majority of your taxpayers worked really, really hard to earn. Please, please, spend our money like the common people spend theirs, weighing every decision with the care the mothers and dads do, as they try to make their money last for the benefit of their children.
Before you approve another outrageous amount of money spent on another project, ask yourself: Is this really, really worth it? Would I do this if this were my own money? Can I look into the eyes of a small, innocent child or puppy and honestly say: This is the best possible use for our money and will bring joy to the biggest number of people on the Sunshine Coast?
