Re: Runner credits Coasters for life saving CPR after collapse (Coast Reporter, April 13).

Ever since I took my first CPR course as a teenager, I've imagined what I would do if I was running along and suddenly came upon someone in need of immediate assistance. The April Fool's Run was just such a moment. A runner in front of me collapsed, and then I saw someone doing chest compressions on him.

Although I'm glad that I could be a part of the team that saved a life during the April Fool's Run, full credit goes to the first responders on the scene: Kellei Baker and her volunteer team, and the RCMP officers on their bikes.

CPR was started immediately, and their excellent, high quality CPR is what saved this lucky man's life. Thanks also to the rest of the team that helped that day: Dr. Spithoff, the ambulance crew, Dr. Jaschinski and the entire ER staff.

The life saved that day was young, fit and seemingly healthy. You never know when or if it will ever be needed, but CPR is a life saving skill that everyone should learn. There are training courses right here on the Sunshine Coast, open to everyone. Go toBCFirstAid.ca. The instructor ishighly skilled and very experienced. Her name is Kellei Baker.
