There are many Coasters who haven't heard of the devastating flooding in Bella Coola. Basically, all the agriculture has been wiped out. This certainly reminds us that everything can change in a day and that we need to continue to support our own local efforts at becoming more food secure.

It's also the season to be thinking of others, and the Farm Food Fighters have put together opportunities for our community to give by checking out our booths at craft fairs this weekend in Roberts Creek, the artisans' Christmas Fair on Dec. 4 at the Davis Bay Community Hall and Dec. 4 at the Gibsons United Church where you can donate towards animal feed, seeds or fencing or straight to a bank account that Bella Coola farmers can draw on.

More information is available at www.farmfreedomfighters.ca, and if you can help us to do our job better, we are eager to see you.

Happy season everyone, and be grateful for uneventful days.
