I live on Pratt Road in Elphinstone and I have to say the proposed Gospel Rock Block 7 project is a bad neighbour development. To introduce a whole “village” into our very rural existing community, with no road access other than through this community, is objectionable. All the development services will be trucked in and out for years to come. Hundreds of new residents forced to take every trip in and out through our already busy and not-so-safe Pratt Road, which they must access through the old charming narrow country lane we call Old Chaster, is just not right.
As well, squeezing so much development and so many people into half of Block 7 seems to me to put the supposed “protected” area at great risk of degradation from the human horde that will spill out into this space, effectively spoiling the nature of Gospel Rock.
Considering this is unceded territory of the Squamish Nation, who by the way have a creation story of the first people born on the Rock, it seems remiss that they have not been consulted about this development.
