As a recreational cyclist in Gibsons and a senior, I was delighted to hear about the proposed bike lanes along Shaw Road. How forward-thinking, I thought, of Gibsons council to promote a network of bike lanes connecting different areas of our community. Efforts to make cycling safer for children, youth, adults and seniors had to be commended. Tourists too would benefit.
How sad that council is now reconsidering such a forward-thinking proposal under pressure from a small number of people in our community.
