Another festival venue

Letters

Editor:

After reading the story “Nude drawings irk festival” (April 13) about the unfortunate switch of gallery shows that did not align with the Festival of the Performing Arts’ expectations when using the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre, I realized that it is also unfortunate that another long-term venue-provider for the festival, St. Hilda’s Anglican Church, was not able to be a venue in 2018.

Due to the need for extensive structural repairs both inside and outside the church, St. Hilda’s pipe organ and grand piano now sit shrouded in eerie silence while this expensive work takes place. The only sounds currently being heard are those of power saws, nail guns and jackhammers.

St. Hilda’s is gratefully accepting donations to raise the $1 million required. Your contributions will help get St. Hilda’s put back together so we can keep the music playing and the arts alive – and welcome the festival in 2019.
