I cannot say how sad and shocked I am to learn of the awful shootings in Quebec City. It was an awful day for all Canadians but a worse day for Canadian Muslims.
To the Muslim members of our community on the Sunshine Coast, I support you. We support you. You are not alone. Remember the many things we have in common. The greatest gift we share is peace and community.
The other is imbedded in fear and loathing; it offers no hope for anyone.
We are strong. We are better than a lone wolf and cannot allow our goodwill in our communities to be separated by an act of madness.
This is Canada. We grieve, we are angry – but in the final stage, we love.
