Amazing gift to Gibsons

Editor: I drove by both of my banners hanging in Gibsons today and felt an immense pride that I had painted them – albeit they did take me about 16 hours each to paint. My gift to Gibsons.

I drove by both of my banners hanging in Gibsons today and felt an immense pride that I had painted them – albeit they did take me about 16 hours each to paint. My gift to Gibsons.

Then I started to multiply my 16 hours times 70 banners and all the man hours they represented and the commitment of all these people to beautify Gibsons. All volunteer hours given so willingly. Wow!

Then I started to count up how many volunteer hours that Connie Johnston must have put in this project, from the collecting of designs, to jurying the designs, to buying the banners and tracing the designs onto the banners to scheduling the artists and painters, to being there every minute of the process, to deciding each banner’s location and assisting the Town with installation. I am sure I have left out many other things she did to bring this project to fruition. Incredible!

Connie, you are amazing! The Town of Gibsons owes you so much that simple words cannot express our gratitude. What a gift you have given our town.
