A puzzle or two

Letters

Editor:

I wonder if someone can help me out with a puzzle or two. As a fairly new resident (three years) on the Sunshine Coast, I am puzzled about who and why someone renamed the seasons here: Winter, Spring, Drought, Fall. Every other community I have lived in in my 60+ years on the Wet Coast has a season called Summer. Summer is welcomed as a brief but joyful few weeks much appreciated as a break from the dreary months and months of rainfall.

Why has this wonderful period been replaced here with threats that the abundant water supply we are blessed with will disappear? How can we get it back?

It also seems that if there ever was a real water shortage, the appropriate immediate response would be a moratorium on all new development while infrastructure is created to accommodate it. But that’s a puzzle for another day.
