While recognizing the importance of shelter for the homeless, especially given our dark, wet winters, I have a suggestion to offer.
The proposed Ebbtide location is a dense residential area with many elderly people, a large number of whom live alone. There is great concern about the closeness of a transient, homeless population in the area.
The currently unoccupied area next to the firehall would seem an ideal location. It is close to all amenities. The area is not heavily residential. The property is easily restorable when plans evolve for the new town hall. And the three-year renewable permits would allow time for construction plans.
