Editor: I've been trying to figure out why the government has been treating the paramedics in such a shabby manner. These first responders are a group that is close to our hearts and the government's treatment of them is shocking.

It must be right at the top of the list of difficult things to talk about - death.

Editor: I recently read your article on puppy mills and sub-standard breeders (Coast Reporter, Oct. 30).

Editor: The fight harmonized sales tax (HST) campaign will be filing for the petition drive in January 2010. This tax is just a further path to the erosion in average people's quality of life.

Editor: I am disturbed by the response of the government and many Canadians to the allegations of abuse in Afghanistan brought forward by Richard Colvin.

Editor: I just wanted to say thank you to all the property owners and tenants, both residents and businesses, who make the effort to keep their road frontages free and clear of litter.

Editor: I have just carefully read my Terasen Gas bill and became aware that I am paying GST on the carbon tax that was implemented recently.

Editor: The Gibsons Wildlife Rehabili-tation Centre is the only place on the Sunshine Coast where injured, sick and orphaned wildlife can be taken for help. The centre receives no government funding, relying on the public for support.

Editor: Re: "Salmon return brings pleasant surprises" (Coast Reporter, Nov. 13) We at the Sunshine Coast Salmonid Enhance-ment Society were most pleased to see the pink salmon returns in the Gibsons area. However, we were not surprised at the event.
