Editor: We all use the extensive trail network that criss-crosses the landscape and the mountains here on the Coast, but seldom do we consider the effort that has gone into building these trails.

Editor: I think it's time for residents of Davis Bay to support council in their efforts to improve highway safety. The Ministry of Transportation has the expertise to identify and address highway safety issues.

There are some stories we never want to write. Tops on the list are any that deal with the death of a child.

Editor: Re: Michael and Denise Sherman's letter (Coast Reporter, Oct. 15).

Editor: Low compensation for elected service in most communities in B.C. effectively prevents many people from seeking office.

Editor: As parents of a schizophrenic adult male, and as residents of the Langdale area, we value the right to have a voice in the rezoning application of ALR lands for use as a large mental health facility.

Editor: I am glad that Mike Lane ("Shame on your HST policies," Coast Reporter letters, Oct. 15) took the time to express his disgust with the HST - as did over 700,000 British Columbians. His anger at the Liberal government of B.C.

Editor: Re: "Cottage farm a surprise to most" (Coast Reporter letters, Oct. 8). Ms. Doupe's suggestion that the proposed Cottage Farm residential home would be damaging to the tourist trade on the Sunshine Coast borders on the ridiculous.

The following letter was sent to Sechelt Mayor Darren Inkster and copied to Coast Reporter. I've spent a lot of thought since last week's Davis Bay meeting. There is a good case for extending the sea walk, but not to widen the highway.

Editor: I must respond to Gord Harris' letter (Coast Reporter, Oct. 8) about the 71 acres on Field Road considered for removal from the Agricultural Land Reserve. Mr. Harris says this is not good land.
