Editor: In response to Mark Durland of Garden Bay (Coast Reporter letters, March 28), who wants a bridge to the Lower Mainland and can't figure out why we wouldn't want it. It comes down to this.

The rumour mill was in overdrive this week as news of the impending closure of Shoppers Drug Mart in Sechelt made the rounds on the streets and on social media sites.

I don’t know if I would have been so strong. Imagine at the age of 13 starting to feel so sick that you couldn’t keep food down any more and continuing to go to school while losing weight so rapidly the rumours spread like wildfire.

Editor: I understand the sentiment and motivation behind the call for a name change atour hospital. However, it is, I would suggest, misguided. Changing the name is not merely a matter of replacing a few signs and designing new stationery.

Editor: The Freedom to Read article (Coast Reporter, March 7) mentioned that Harry Potter books were banned somewhere for their "alleged occult and anti-family themes.

Editor: I cannot fathom why it would be necessary to inflict a $182 per property levy for infrastructure repairs (Coast Reporter, March 21).

Editor: Elphinstone Logging Focus (ELF) conducted a site visit to the former Wilson Creek forest, a Sunshine Coast community forest (block EW002) that was logged in 2012, to inspect its current condition and was alarmed to find 54 slash piles set to

Editor: "Yes" was the quick response from nine restaurants and one deli when we asked if they'd honour 25 per cent off coupons for vegetarian specials on March 10.

Editor: Sechelt Coun. Chris Moore (Coast Reporter, March 21) apparently characterized Tillicum Bay and Tuwanek residents as having a well-known propensity for "putting the brakes on stuff," which is half true.

Editor: The divided results, combined with the news reports emanating from the recent Sechelt referendum, are deeply troubling for anyone who cares about our community. The core task of local government is to bring us together for mutual benefit.
