West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country MP Patrick Weiler has been elected to chair the federal Liberal party’s Pacific Caucus.

The caucus is made of the party’s 11 sitting MPs from British Columbia.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that British Columbians have a strong voice representing them in Ottawa, and that priorities of British Columbians are reflected in the decisions and policies that are taken at the federal government level,” Weiler said in a brief statement Sept. 10.

“Together, we will be focussed on ensuring that we deliver on our commitments to British Columbians with an ambitious set of priorities to achieve for our communities as we look forward to a post-pandemic recovery.”

Parliament is scheduled to resume sitting after a brief prorogation with the Trudeau government outlining its plans in a Throne Speech on Sept. 23.
