Gibsons Mayor Bill Beamish and Sechelt Mayor Darnelda Siegers went bike helmet to bike helmet on Wednesday, May 22 in a “cycling showdown” to raise awareness about Active Transportation Month. The race, organized by Transportation Choices, began at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Cowrie Street in Sechelt and lasted about a block before the two turned around and pedalled back toward Municipal Hall. Siegers – riding an electric bike – took first place.
