Master weaver Shy Watters begins blanket design

Weaving Reconciliation
weaving

Master weaver Shy Watters started her cedar and wool blanket design entitled Paddling Together on Saturday, Aug. 11 at Sechelt Library following a well-attended launch on Aug. 8.

This blanket is the first big artistic collaboration for the syiyaya Reconciliation Movement, called Weaving Reconciliation: The Fabric of Our Lives. The public is welcome to weave a part of the friendship blanket.

This weaving is the beginning of a one-year project designed to raise awareness and cultivate dialogue about reconciliation in our community.

Watters will be back at the library on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come and meet her, learn about her art and add your threads to the fabric of reconciliation on the Sunshine Coast.
