Fourteen organizations on the lower Sunshine Coast are receiving funding through the province’s gaming grants program.

The $235,800 is targeted at arts, culture, and not-for-profit sport organizations.

The Sunshine Coast recipients include the Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association, Deer Crossing the Art Farm, Rogue Arts Society, Driftwood Players, Pender Harbour Music Society, and Coasting Along Theatre Society, which produces the annual Nutcracker ballet.

“From strengthened bonds within the community to healthier routines and lifestyles, the benefits of participating in local programming are widespread,” said Powell River-Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons, in a release announcing the funding. “[This] funding announcement will go a long way in supporting the visibility and vibrancy of local arts, culture, and sport organizations for people along the lower Sunshine Coast.”
