A section of Highway 101 between Davis Bay and Sechelt was reduced to single-lane traffic for 45 minutes on Friday morning due to an accident that caused minor injuries.

RCMP were called at 8:53 a.m. to respond to a two-vehicle collision involving a 1976 Jeep and a Freightliner truck. The truck was making a left turn off Highway 101 to go up Snodgrass Road in Selma Park. Vehicles stopped to allow the truck to make the turn off the highway but the Jeep’s brakes failed. The Jeep’s passenger sustained minor injuries.

Damage to the Jeep was substantial, and a flat tire made it impossible for police to manually clear the vehicle from the road, so a tow truck was called and police remained on scene to divert traffic around the damaged vehicle.
