A barred owl was rescued from a drainage ditch in Davis Bay last Sunday after it was spotted by Phate Dickeson and his mother, Heather Ingram, on their walk home along the Sunshine Coast Highway. They wrapped the owl in a blanket, placed it in a large box and transported it to the Gibsons Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre where it is expected to make a full recovery. Two other barred owls were brought to the centre last week, one from Port Mellon and the other from Sechelt. All three suffered concussions from being hit by vehicles.
