TORONTO — The association that represents broadcast and digital news directors is recognizing The Canadian Press with its highest honour.
The Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada has named CP as the recipient of its 2022 president's award.
The award, which will be handed out at the association's national gala this weekend, recognizes individuals or organizations that have brought recognition and distinction to electronic and digital journalism in Canada.
As Canada's national wire service, CP has been delivering trusted, accurate and urgent news to Canadians since it was founded in 1917, during the First World War.
RTDNA president Fiona Conway says, for more than 100 years, CP has been relied on for its editorial quality and top-rate journalistic standards.
With bureaus and correspondents stationed across the country and in Washington, D.C., CP's offerings include articles, photos, graphics, video and audio in both English and French.
"We have all come to rely on CP for editorial expertise and knowing the journalism is first-rate," Conway says.
"How many times in my career have I reached for the CP Style Guide, or asked 'what is CP reporting?'”
