After two seasons of no inter-school basketball (thanks COVID), School District No. 46 was finally able to hold a developmental basketball season of mixed Grade 4/5 students, thanks to Andrew Appleton, Glenn Kerr and Peter Brampton. With unseasonal “snow days” interfering with play days, the young stars finished off their season thanks to Elphi opening up their gymnasium for an after-school event before spring break.

The Grade 6/7 girls teams were hosted by the Chatelech high school, and a fun afternoon of season-ending games was enjoyed.  Thanks as always go out to the volunteer high school referees and scorekeepers who did an admiral job officiating the games: Joseph Cello, Ben Harkness, Isaac Morrow, Keegan Manson, Mackenzie Harris, Hannah Garden and Sharon R.  Thanks also go out to Kurt Heidebrecht and Uma Sharma for their support and help on the day.

After an afternoon of round robin play, West Sechelt squared off with Gibsons in the consolation final, with WS squeaking out an 11 to 9 decision.  In the championship game, it was the Kinnickinnik girls edging out the West Sechelt #1 team 12 to 10 taking home the Ellen Thomas donated girls trophy. The boys got their turn April 3 at Elphinstone when 14 teams did battle.
