A teenager was rescued after falling from rocks at Daniel Point last Saturday afternoon.
He and a group of youths were climbing on rocks and jumping into the water at Daniel Point Park during the afternoon of Aug. 3.
While one was climbing up a bank, the rock he was using as a handhold gave out and he fell onto the beach, according to Pender Harbour Fire Chief Don Murray.
The boy’s feet were injured from the barnacles and debris he landed on, which prevented him from leaving the location on his own.
Members from the Garden Bay Fire Hall were on scene as they considered how to transport the boy.
“At one point there was thought of packing him up the hill, but it was rapidly realized it was a lot better to get the RCM-SAR,” said assistant Fire Chief Jim Cameron.
Pender Harbour-based RCM-SAR Station 61 was paged to the scene from Madeira Park and they brought the boy to Irvines Landing where he was picked up by an ambulance and transported to hospital.
