Environment Canada issued a wind warning for the Sunshine Coast just before 8 a.m. on Monday morning.

According to Environment Canada, south to southeast winds with gusts to 90 km/h are forecast for most of the South Coast of British Columbia through this evening.

Two frontal systems will affect the B.C. coast today. The northern system will continue to give periods of snow to inland sections of the north coast this morning before it merges with the southern system later today.

The southern system is giving rain heavy at times to the North Shore mountains and Howe Sound and snow at times heavy to Whistler. The system is also producing strong southeast winds 60 km/h with gusts to 90 km/h over west and East Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast. The strong winds will spread to regions around Southern Vancouver Island including the Lower Mainland and Western Fraser Valley this afternoon in the wake of the front. The winds will abate and precipitation will ease late tonight as the combined fronts move inland and weaken.
