Updated: Wildfire above Secret Cove held

A wildfire ignited above Secret Cove, near Homesite Creek, July 17.

Update 12:55 p.m.

The Homesite Creek fire is now classified as "held." 

BC Wildfire Service's map says BCWS responded with two initial attack crews and a water tender and that crews "are making good progress on their objectives."

This is the second fire in the area this summer –– a 0.3 hectare fire also ignited in the Homesite Creek area in mid-June.

A wildfire has ignited near Homesite Creek above Secret Cove. 

The BC Wildfire Service map says the fire was discovered Wednesday, as of 9 a.m. Thursday morning is 0.95 hectares (just over two acres), and is classified as "out of control."

Halfmoon Bay Fire Department chief Kody Raymond in a Facebook post said the department is aware of the fire and the wildfire service is attending the situation.
