When is the giant Hotel Lake Road pot hole getting fixed?

Soon? Maybe? We think? As with everything these days, supply is an issue

A two-car-length pothole (or "road depression" as Capilano Highways calls it) at the intersection of Hotel Lake Road and Sinclair Bay Road

Hotel Lake Road, in the Garden Bay area, goes from two vehicle lanes down to one at its intersection with Sinclair Bay Road due to what Capilano Highways’ president Steve Drummond classifies as a “road depression.”

There are traffic cones surrounding the damaged area which takes up over two car length of one lane. The closed off area is at the base of a hill and a stop sign-controlled intersection. According to Drummond, the Coast’s road maintenance contractor became aware of problems with the pavement in that location last November, when heavy rains caused issues with the road surface.

Drummond told Coast Reporter that a repair “should happen within the next few weeks.”

“We have been waiting for availability of asphalt, that has been our concern and dealing with everything else that is going on. It’s a low volume road so its priority is not as high as some of the other ones,” Drummond said. “Pot holes are a big issue these days. Cold weather with rain mixed in makes them worse. The freeze and thaw is not helpful.”
