Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for March 3 to 10:
Thefts
• On March 3, a shoplifter was reported at a business in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt after staff witnessed a female suspect grab a tip jar from the counter and flee the premises.
One of the staff members located the suspect nearby, and waited with her until police arrived. The suspect was arrested and charges of theft are being recommended to Crown counsel.
• On March 3, a theft of welding cable was reported in the 5600 block of Trail Avenue in Sechelt. The thief snipped the approximately 100-feet long black cable off of a portable welding trailer. The thief also appears to have rummaged through an unlocked vehicle on the property, but nothing else was reported stolen.
• In the early morning hours of March 8, a thief stole copper wiring from a work site at the Gibsons Landing Harbour.
The 60-feet of five-strand 1/0 gauge wire in a rubber casing is very specific in its application and would have weighed about 200 to 250 pounds. Police are reviewing surveillance footage. Additional items were also stolen from some boats at the marina. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266 and reference file 15-1403.
• Between March 2 and 9, an electric pressure washer was stolen from the front of a residence in the 800 block of Gibsons Way.
The pressure washer was a "BE" 1400 PSI, model number P1415ED. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, and reference file 15-1425.
Marine
• On March 4, police and the Auxiliary Coast Guard attended to a report of a small row boat adrift in the waters off the 7700 block of Redrooffs Road in Halfmoon Bay. The 10' boat was found empty with the oars in lock position. A grid search of the area was negative and no reports of missing boaters or boats have been received. The boat has been recovered and is being kept for 90 days as found property.

Mischief
• Overnight on March 5, a vandal threw two rocks through a window of a business in the 4300 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt.
It does not appear that the suspect gained access to the premises and no other damage or theft was reported.
• On-going mischief problems are occurring at the public washrooms in Hackett Park in Sechelt. Vandals are damaging fixtures, setting fires in garbage cans, and rendering the facilities unusable. If you see people acting suspiciously or vandalizing washrooms, please call RCMP immediately.
Snake
• On March 4, a resident reported a large dead reptile in a playground in the 5700 block of Kwatamus Avenue in Sechelt. The Conservation Officer Service was called, attended, and seized the reptile which was described as a four-foot long albino python-like snake.
