Weekly police report

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Oct. 25 to Nov. 1: On Oct. 14, a resident in the 1500 block of Thompson Road witnessed two unknown males breaking into a vehicle. The resident chased the suspects off.

On Oct. 14, a resident in the 1500 block of Thompson Road witnessed two unknown males breaking into a vehicle. The resident chased the suspects off. One of the suspects is described as being tall, and was wearing a black hoodie. The suspects stole a small digital Fuji camera, a Tim Horton's water bottle and a can of bear spray.

An erratic driver was reported heading northbound on Highway 101 from Wilson Creek to Sechelt. Thevehicle was witnessed swerving into on-coming traffic, hitting curbs,and driving at varying speeds. Police made patrols and located the vehicle at the hospital where it was determined the driver had taken herself as she was in medical distress.

Police and ambulance attended to a single-vehicle accident on Garden Bay Road just off Highway 101. The driver, who managed to extricate herself from the tipped over vehicle, advised she'd lost control on the corner and her tires caught on the soft shoulder. The driver sustained minor injuries, but the vehicle had to be towed. No violation ticket was issued.

Sometime last month, a thief stole a Husquavarna lawnmower and Stihl weed eater from an unlocked shed in the 4400 block of Highway 101. The weed eater was recovered last week, but the lawnmower is still missing.

An intoxicated scooter driver was located on Gibsons Way near Sunnycrest Road after witnesses reported seeing the male displaying signs of intoxication. The male admitted to consuming alcohol a short time earlier and failed a roadside alcohol screen test. The male was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and his scooter was impounded for 30 days.

Sometime in October, thieves stole a practically new Honda Model EU3000ISCA 3000 watt generator from a building in the 900 block of Keith Road. The red generator is on wheels and would have required two people to remove it. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266, and reference file 11-7735.

Late on Oct. 28, suspects broke into a building in the 1500 block of Hanbury Road by kicking in a door and breaking the frame. Nothing else was damaged or stolen; it is believed that dogs barking scared the suspects off.

On Oct. 28, a suspect gained entry into an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Park Avenue and rifled through the contents, but nothing appears to be stolen.

Between Oct. 25 and 29, a thief broke into a residence in the 6000 block of Coracle Drive and stole an HP Elite notebook computer, a second laptop, several financial documents, cash, alcohol, DVDs, aBlackberry, web camera still in its box,and a hunting knife. As there was no damage to the property, it is believed the door was left unlocked.

Early on Oct. 30, a thief stole an unlockedvehicle from the 5800 block of Highway 101. The black Mazda pick-up truck with "Roof Demossing" on both side panels, was recovered in the 5500 block of Highway 101on Nov. 1. The interior had beenburned. Anyone with any information about this theft andarsonis asked to contact RCMP, reference file 11-7823.
