Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for April 12 to 19:
On April 12 two shoplifters were witnessed stealing a large quantity of dog food from a business in the 4300 block of Highway 101. The female suspects fled in a vehicle, but witnesses were able to obtain a licence plate as well as identify one of the suspects. The file is still under investigation.
A possible impaired driver was reported in the 1300 block of Port Mellon Highway after a witness noticed the male was slurring his speech and exhibited other signs of possible intoxication. Police located the suspect driver and pulled him over. The male advised he'd consumed alcohol a few hours earlier and agreed to two, roadside alcohol-screening tests, which he failed. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On April 13, a male suspect was caught on surveillance stealing a large amount of meat from a business in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 30 years old, 5'11" wearing a black hoodie with grey, white and black camouflage on the front and arms, and blue jeans.
Sometime between April 14/15, a thief stole an original oil on canvas painting from an office in the 5600 block of Inlet Avenue. The approximately 4' x 2' painting is signed "TODD" in the bottom right corner and is a grey and white abstract.
On April 16, a thief stole a wheelchair that had been left outside a business in the 5500 block of Highway 101. The black wheelchair has "FOTHERINGHAM" written on the pad. Anyone with any info about this theft is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266, reference file 11-2319.
Sometime overnight April 16/17, thieves stole a large amount of lumber from a construction site in the 5000 block of Panorama Drive including 4'x8' sheets of plywood, 3'x3' form boards and several lengths of 2'x4.'
Sometime between April 16/17, thieves stole a red and white Honda 3400 series generator from a construction site near Roberts Creek Road and Highway 101. The generator had been chained to a fence, but the chain was broken and taken as well.
A small purse containing cash was turned in after being found near the Sechelt wharf. The purse is a distinctive style and the owner may claim by providing a detailed description of the purse and contents to RCMP, reference file 11-2337.
On April 18, a thief stole wallets and a number of electronic items from unlocked lockers at a public facility in the 5500 block of Shorncliffe Avenue. One of the stolen wallets was recovered from a nearby garbage can, but still missing are a silver iPod shuffle, a black iPod classic, a Telstra flip cell phone, silver and black Canon IXUS 70 camera, bright blue Lumix camera and other identification and cash. Police are reviewing surveillance footage.
