Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for May 24 to 31:
On May 24, thieves broke into a storage facility in the 5600 block of Inlet Avenue by cutting through a fence. A number of lockers were broken into and the thieves stole a chainsaw, a new set of stainless steel pots and a new kerosene heater.
Sometime between May 23 and 24, a white gold diamond tennis bracelet was reported lost in Sechelt.
Sometime between May 26 and 27, a thief stole a vehicle that had been parked behind a residence in the 7400 block of Redrooffs Road. The key was left in the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a short time later with some damage possibly caused by the suspect driving the vehicle on a walking trail. The key to the vehicle was missing, so the vehicle had to be towed back to the owner.
A suspected case of road rage and hit and run occurred in the parking lot at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way after the first driver got impatient with a second driver who was turning into a parking spot. The first driver struck the second vehicle on the side causing moderate damage, drove over a curb and left the scene. No injuries were reported. Police later located the driver at his home and issued him a violation ticket
Vandals struck a number of vehicles and businesses in Gibsons between May 27 and 28. Either rocks or a sign was used to smash windows in the 800 to 900 blocks of Gibsons Way, the 700 block of Cascade Crescent, and the 800 block of Kiwanis Way. Nothing was stolen in any of these incidents. RCMP received five reports of the vandalism.
Police attended a possible break and enter in the 5700 block of Binnacle Avenue. There was sign someone was inside the residence and police located a male suspect. The male, who admitted he did not live in the house, was arrested for break and enter and for being in possession of break and enter tools. The file is still under investigation.
On May 30, a vehicle was reported stolen after the suspect drove off in the vehicle while the driver had stepped out of it for an errand, leaving their vehicle running. The vehicle was located later upside down with significant damage to it. No occupants were found near the vehicle nor was there any evidence anyone had sustained any significant injuries. The file is still under investigation.
