RCMP are requesting help from the public in locating the suspect (s) believed responsible for abandoning a truck in flames in the early morning of Aug. 30.

According to RCMP, sometime during the night of Aug. 30, or the early morning hours of Aug. 31, someone entered a works yard in Gibsons and stole a truck from a local business. At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 31, RCMP and the Sechelt fire department responded to several reports of explosions and a fire in the 6400 Block of Gale Avenue north. The stolen truck had been abandoned and was engulfed in flames. The truck was fueled by a large propane tank that had been recently filled causing an extremely hazardous situation. Aerosol cans that were in the cab of the truck likely caused the several small explosions that were reported. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Bonds at the Sunshine Coast RCMP or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
